Description and comments: "The boldness of Martincho at the Zaragoza ring."  "Sitting in a chair, the bullfighter waits for the bull at the door of his den, with his feet tied with chains and golding his sword, to challenge the bull to kill and no other protection but his hat as a "muleta".  It is reported that Martincho did this feat during a bullfight that took place at Zaragoza on the occasion of a visit by Charles III in 1759.  Taking into account that Goya was then thirteen years old, it should be thought that he made the engraving from descriptions told by some contemporary chronicler."
Black and white tones of presentation image may vary slightly from original.
