Description and comments: "A bull killing by the mob using lances, crescent-shaped knifes, Branderillas and other weapons."  "This is how Moratin described the cruel way of killing a bull: "Then they called the mob in, and people on foot, all at a time,, attacked the bull, cutting strips of flesh, and others going at him with short spears and knives..."  this the scene depicted by Goya, who shows a black bull challenging, ready to defend himself from the attacks of the people, tow of whom have already fallen in the fight."   "A very good contrast between the outline of the bull and the figures of the men; the haziness of those in the background enhance the perspective of this engraving."
