Condition: Excellent - minor foxing - blue smudge in lower left corner - minor foxing on margin - slightly uneven bottom trim - no damage to image
Comments: The monkey has in the art of many cultures been a stand-in for humans, showing us in our stupidity and foolishness. The print depicts boxers having at each other.  The audience is made up of humanly dressed animals. Thomas Landseer, the brother of the more famous Sir Edwin Landseer, produced a series of 25 plates in the 1820’s showing monkeys engaged in various human pursuits, showing how humans are prone to behave like animals, rather than the other way around.
