Engraving on reverse side of The Slough of Despond and Tom Paine's Nightly Pest
Condition: Excellent - Minor foxing in margin - Missing bottom right corner - Ragged top margin - Some age related defects - No damage to image
Comments: Coloration of presentation varies slightly from original image and background hue/s.
Featured print side Plate # 89  - A depiction of a levee held by Earl Charles Cornwallis, defeated at Yorktown, now commanding in India.

Reversed side of Featured print Plate # 90 - "The Slough of Despond, vide, The Patriot's Progress".  Charles James Fox sinks in the mud, unable to reach the Patriot's Paradise:, in which a ladder leads to the Sun.  Plate Plate # 91 Tom Paine's Nightly Pest"  Thomas Paine, Englishman, yet also an American and French Revolutionary, has a nightmare of the punishment that awaits him in England.  Beautifully detailed, right down to a pillowcase made of the American stripes and labeled "Viva America" and the liberty cap that Paine wears to bed.
